Three hours, two of you, one instructor, and a bay that feels made for this. You start together on the beach: setting up the kite, the safety systems, how to steer. Then you head into warm water you can stand in and take turns. One flies, the other cheers and films the moment the kite yanks their partner forward. By the end, you'll both be able to: * Set up a kite and use its safety systems * Steer it and control the power * Relaunch it from the water yourself * Feel it pull you through the water That's the foundation every rider starts with. Most people work toward standing on the board over about six hours of lessons, so this gets you halfway there, together. Nothing to bring but swimwear. All gear is included, rash guards and water shoes too. Lessons are in English, Dutch, Spanish or Papiamentu. St. Joris Bay is flat, warm, shallow and never crowded. Awa Salu has taught here since 2017. With one instructor per lesson, only a few run each day. The windy afternoons go first.

Cancellation policy
- No wind, no lesson, no charge: If the wind is too light for a safe lesson it does not go ahead, and you are not charged. You reschedule or get your money back.
Rules
- One pass covers two people: Book a single pass for the two of you.
Before you go
- What you will do in three hours: Set up the kite, learn the safety systems, control the kite, relaunch it from the water and feel the power strokes pull you. Standing up on the board usually comes in the 3-day course.
- What to bring: Swimwear, a towel, water and a snack. Rash guard, water shoes and face sunscreen are provided.
Getting there
- Getting to St. Joris Bay: East side of the island. Follow the road past the Ostrich Farm, take the dirt road to the white gate on the left and drive straight onto the property. Any car makes it.
